The groom’s costs get covered by the group. Everyone else pays their own way. You collect before anyone lands, and that’s the part of Miami bachelor party planning that actually keeps the weekend from turning into a twelve-person argument on Sunday.
What “covered” means
His share of the house or the hotel block. His seat on the boat. His plate at the dinner you reserved. A table if you booked one. Not his shopping. Not a second bar he wandered into. Not a gift you decided he wanted.
Shared means the pieces that need one card and one name: lodging, charter, bus, Friday dinner. One person pays. Everyone else sends that person money before the weekend, not at MIA. If you’re flying into FLL instead of MIA, that’s still their own Uber. Don’t put airport rides in the pot unless the whole list is on the same van.
Brickell condos and Beach hotels will take a damage hold on one card. That’s the organizer’s card. If someone breaks a glass, it’s coming off yours first. Tell the group that before they arrive, not after the front desk emails you Monday.
Count the people who are coming
Not the original sixteen. Round down. There’s always one dropout. Don’t split a Brickell rental twelve ways when nine show up. Don’t collect from the cousin who said maybe.
Partners coming for one dinner are not on the boat split. Say it. Mixed days are how people feel overcharged for a trip they half attended.
One card. Not twelve.
The dock will not split a charter. The house wants one deposit. The steakhouse wants one reservation. That’s why the pot exists. If you can’t float the deposit for a week, collect first, then book. Don’t book and hope.
Screenshot the actual quote into the thread. You don’t need a public price list. You need the number the vendor gave you for those dates and that headcount. It moves. Call for current pricing. Art Basel week and F1 weekend are not a random October Saturday, and the dock knows it.
Fuel, ice, and gratuity are where boat quotes get slippery. Ask what’s in the number before you screenshot it. A “four-hour” that starts when you leave the dock is not the same as four hours at the sandbar. If they run out of Haulover vs a Miami River slip, your cruise time changes and so does what you actually get for the money. Get that in the text, not in a handshake on the seawall.
Don’t invent a fun fund
A line called miscellaneous is how you start a fight. If you need tax and tip, write tax and tip and pick a percentage and stop. Don’t collect for a table “just in case” and skip the table. Refund it. Don’t keep it because the boat ran over.
No-shows still cost you
The boat is priced for the boat, not for who woke up. If two guys bail Saturday morning, the rest of you still owe the charter. Don’t rebuild the split on the dock. That’s why you collect before wheels-up, and why the dropout’s money stays in the pot unless you voted to refund him. Refunds are a group decision. They’re not a vibe.
A South Beach table works the same way. You reserved it. You bought the night. Empty chairs don’t get you a discount at 1 a.m. If the group is wobbly, skip the table and keep Friday to a restaurant that will take ten. Cheaper to eat well than to pay for a room you used as a coat check.
If he wants to pay his own way
Let him. Some grooms hate being covered. Note it, take him off that line, split the rest among the people who are covering shared costs. The rule is what he wants, not what looks generous in the chat.
Flyers already bought a seat. Locals shouldn’t subsidize airport Ubers they aren’t on. Shared means on the ground in Miami. Flights stay individual unless the group votes otherwise, out loud.
Someone can’t pay
Hear it early, not at the marina. The group covers a friend or that friend sits a piece out. Pretending the number still splits twelve ways is how everyone gets mad. Recalculate. Tell the people who are in. The groom shouldn’t be the one solving this in the thread.
Tips, then you’re done
Build gratuity into the pot when the boat or the bus expects it. Don’t pass a hat on the dock. If the restaurant auto-grats a party of fourteen, that’s the tip. Don’t double it because someone felt big at 11 p.m. and then bill the group on Monday.
Sunday: one recap. In, out, leftover. Send leftover back. If you’re short, you eat it or you ask once, with the receipt. Venmo requests at 1 a.m. in a club are how friendships cool off. A deadline in the note — in by Friday or you’re not on the boat list — is ruder on paper than a scene at Haulover, and it’s kinder. Miss it and you’re not on the reservation. Dinner can maybe take a plus-one. The boat can’t.
Don’t settle up at Versailles at 4 a.m. Don’t settle up in the van to MIA. The recap goes out Sunday afternoon while people still have the receipts in their camera roll. After that, you’re chasing ghosts.
Dates and the real headcount: (786) 244-3811. We’ll tell you what needs a deposit. We won’t invent a package price here. Call for a quote on your dates and group size.
